Bespoke Trauma Training.
My background is in education, and my undergraduate degree was Education Studies. I spent many years working in a variety of schools with many children who had experienced significant trauma early in their lives. I then worked in the third sector mental health services and criminal justice system and discovered the same thing; the majority of the people I was working with, had experienced significant trauma.
What was also clear, was that if the people working with the traumatised individuals did not understand trauma, then the needs of the individuals were not met and this could cause a variety of different challenges, depending on the setting. This is one of the key reasons that I want to be able to offer training to help the people working with individuals to understand more about the impacts of trauma.
What Could the Training Be Created For?
Due to my background and wide variety of experiences, I am able to offer trainings from primary school age and upwards. Therefore, I can offer training in any of the following places:
-Schools (primary or secondary).
-Further or higher education establishments.
-Organisations of any type that offer services to people.
-Job Centres.
-Charities.
-Corporate businesses
As I provide bespoke training, we, together, would work out what outcome you wanted from the training, and work backwards, to work out what that would include.
Some common topics are:
-Types of Trauma.
-What Trauma Means.
-What things are considered to be Trauma.
-Impact of Trauma at Different Ages/Stages.
-Themes of Trauma.
-Manifestations of Trauma.
-Traumatic Beliefs.
-Dissociation.
-How the Relationship Can Help When Working with People Who Have Experienced Trauma.
-The Autonomic Nervous System.
-Somatic Strategies.
-Internal Parts.
Any training I offer is not limited to these topics; they are possibilities and often a good starting point to consider.
Additionally, if you would like handouts after the training, this can be discussed and also designed specifically for what you are seeking.
If requested, I can provide a follow up service for anyone who has attended training. This can be helpful if specific consultation is needed, if individuals would like to be able to ask specific questions, or if you have staff members who are learning differences that may benefit from additional conversations to aid understanding, for example. This is not an exhaustive list though.
Length of Trainings
Typically, the trainings I offer will be either three hours (i.e. a morning, or afternoon), or six hours (either a full day or two mornings/afternoons), however, if you require something different, we can discuss this.
Delivery
I can deliver the training online or face to face, depending on your need, however, face to face trainings will need to be in Suffolk or surrounding areas.
Cost
As these are bespoke trainings, I cannot put a guaranteed cost here. My approach is to meet with you to discuss what you want from the training, and discuss what would need to go in it and work from there. After that, I would be able to provide you with a quote.
Whilst this may seem a prolonged way to quote, this really is the best way to provide exactly the training you’re seeking to achieve the goals you have from it.
