How I Practice

My approach

My approach is pretty easy, in that I accept all clients as individuals. I work to ensure you all feel comfortable and safe in the therapy room and that you feel able to explore anything you wish to.

What can be expected throughout therapy in general

At the first session with every client, we will do an initial consultation. This is basically where we meet and chat and work out what you’re wanting to change and why, what you want from me, what I can do for you and, most importantly, give you a chance to ask any questions and tell me anything you want to tell me. Any subsequent sessions will likely include hypnotherapy of some respect, although I don’t necessarily do hypnotherapy every session, depending on what your needs are.

What you can expect from me as a therapist

It’s important for you to know what you can expect from me, when you come into my room.

  • I will always offer a non-judgemental, supportive, empathetic enviroment for you to work in.
  • I want to hear whatever you have to share as we navigate through your journey.
  • I will be congruent with you.
  • I will always ensure that any work we do will be in your best interests and towards whatever it is that brings you to my room.
  • I will work with you in a confidential manner, unless I have real concern for your safety, or that of someone else; in which case I may have to raise my concerns with someone else, although I will always do my best to speak with you first.
  • I will provide you with a receipt on payment, if you would like one.

What I expect from you as a client

My expectations of you are fairly basic and expected, but it’s impotant for you to understand what they are.

  • You will pay each session.
  • If you are unable to attend, you will give me at least 24 hours notice. If you let me know with less than 24 hours, then you will pay the full fee.

My therapy room

My room is a small therapy room, which means it generally feels safe and secure. I tend to sit in the chair to the right of the door, and the chair to the left is for you. At times when I have more people in the room, for example, couples, the room will be arranged slightly differently.

Where I practice

I currently practice in Ipswich, Suffolk, in a office on the outskirts of town.  The office is quiet and peaceful, allowing the right atmosphere for hypnotherapy.

The address is:

Unit 73, Basepoint Ipswich
70-72 The Havens
Ransomes Europark

(essentially, it’s opposite Makro).

There is free parking and a bus stop very close by.

My hours

I currently work in my private practice on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I have a variety of appointment times available throughout these days.

Session Length

Generally, it is expected that a session will last for 50 minutes, although there are times where this may over run due to the therapy we are doing. There is no extra charge for this as you pay for my time, not by the hour. Quitting smoking sessions are two hours long.

Coming for a session

If you come within normal working hours (9-5, Monday to Friday), then you will be able to drive straight in, park your car and enter into reception. You’ll be able to let the receptionist know you are here and I will come down to collect you. You may be asked to sign in the book, but my clients all sign in as ‘client’, so you will remain completely anonymous.

Most of my sessions, however, are out of regular working hours, which means that the gate at the entrance of the car park is normally closed and the building is also locked.

When you drive up to the entrance you will be greeted with this gate.

You’ll need to stop your car and get out.

When you book your appointment I will give you a code that will allow you to open the gate. You will need to put the code in on the keypad that is found within the two white circles on this photo.

The keypad is easy to use and the light will turn from red to green and will beep, when you have the code right.

The gate will then open and you can drive through and park.

The main building will be locked but I will come down to reception at your appointment time and let you in.

When you leave the car park at the end of the session, the process will be similar.

If you do have any problems then give me a call and I will come and give you a hand.
