One of the benefits of seeing a therapist is that they are totally separate from you and your life, they won’t try to give advice, they are not remotely involved in anything that is going on for you and that distance is vital and you don’t need to protect them from your pain and feelings. You can just come and share and explore whatever you need to to get what you want from therapy.
Additionally, all therapists will have had extensive training and each therapist will practice slightly differently. It’s important to find a therapist that you trust, have a connection with, believe in their ability and that you feel comfortable with.
I offer a variety of different therapies and approaches in my practice. I’ve discovered that the more I learn, the better the therapist I am as the more I can adjust how I work to suit you, my client.
When someone first comes for the initial consult, we would discuss what it is that you’re looking for, what I can offer, what I think may be useful and then work together on how to move forwards with whatever it is that you are struggling with.
It might be helpful for you to understand more about the different approaches I use, and me.
